We Experienced The World of Anime and Pop Culture Wonders
AniManGaki 2023, one of the most anticipated anime and cosplay events of the year, brought together fans of Japanese pop culture in a vibrant celebration of creativity and passion. The name “AniManGaki” holds significance in the anime and cosplay community, known as a portmanteau of four words: Anime, Manga, Games, and Gaki (Japanese slang for ‘brat‘).
From the 25th to the 27th of August, AniManGaki made its triumphant return to the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Center (MIECC). This event serves as a testament to the youthful and passionate spirit of anime enthusiasts, who often maintain their love for the art form into adulthood. It’s a gathering of individuals of all ages who share a deep appreciation for anime and cosplay.
Amidst the bustling crowds, colourful costumes, and electrifying performances, one unique element stood out – the presence of our dedicated Photobook team. Photobook Malaysia had the privilege to be part of this exciting event. Our mission? Was to offer attendees a chance to immortalise their memorable AniManGaki moments into tangible keepsakes and prints.
All The Exciting Things To See: Exhibitors, Cosplay, Art & Games!
Here’s a sneak peek into some of the event’s major highlights:
In line with this year’s thrilling space theme, AniManGaki promised to transport attendees to out-of-this-world experiences. With over 250 artist booths, 80 exhibitor booths, and a whopping 88 of the top cosplayers from Southeast Asia, attendees found themselves immersed in a world of creativity and expression as they explored the exhibition floor. Moreover, attendees tried their luck at various mini carnival games for a chance to win fantastic prizes.
Where Stage Performances & Cosplay Comes to Life
For cosplay enthusiasts, the second floor was the place to be. The Cosplay Alley was home to talented cosplayers from all over Southeast Asia. They showcased their latest costumes and interacted with fans, signing autographs and creating unforgettable moments.
And no anime event is complete without electrifying performances, and AniManGaki 2023 exceeded expectations. Acts like Rina-Hime, Nymphie, and The Crestfall rocked the stage for all three days. However, the weekend’s highlight undoubtedly belonged to JKT48, the Indonesian sister group to the renowned J-Pop group AKB48. Their performance of beloved hits left local fans in awe, making it an unforgettable experience.
VTuber Showcase: Bridging the Virtual and Real Worlds
The Malaysian VTuber community took a step into the real world with AniManGaki’s VTuber Showcase, curated by Psy8_ Media. Over 100 Malaysian VTubers were represented by life-sized standees of their virtual personas. It was a delightful treat for VTuber enthusiasts.
Maid Cafe: Double the Delight
AniManGaki 2023 went the extra mile with not one but two maid cafes. Anone Anone Maid Cafe, inspired by “Cells At Work,” was organized by Project Meido, while Meido Heaven ICU Concafe, with a medical theme, was organized by Moe Events. These cafes added a unique and charming dimension to the event.
Booths, Panels, and Workshops: ACG Communities Unite
AniManGaki placed the spotlight on various ACG (Anime, Comics, and Gaming) communities with diverse Community Booths. From Itashas to D&D, Lolitas to Hatsune Miku, it was a feast for niche interests. Attendees seeking deeper insights could attend panels and workshops where industry leaders shared their knowledge on topics like cosplay crafting and anime production. Prominent brands such as Hada Labo, Coca-Cola, JBL and Republic of Gamers took centre stage, offering visitors exclusive discounts and fun activities to participate in.
Photobook Malaysia: Capture Your Memories with Us
In the vibrant realm of AniManGaki 2023, Photobook Malaysia embarked on a memorable journey that celebrated the magic of preserving cherished memories. Located at Booth #9, Photobook Malaysia was a hub of creativity and nostalgia. With a backdrop of eye-catching visuals, we welcomed event-goers to explore the enchanting world of personalised keepsakes. Our team of dedicated volunteers was on hand to engage with the public, discussing the art of capturing cherished memories and transforming them into tangible treasures.
We had the delightful opportunity to present our enticing promotions to event attendees. Our offer included 25 FREE 4R Photo Prints, which can be conveniently redeemed monthly through our Photobook App, serving as a lasting memory of the event and allowing visitors to personally experience the exceptional quality of our products. Furthermore, we unveiled our bulk purchase options, an ideal choice for crafting memorable gifts or preserving one’s personal collection of their AniManGaki adventure.
In our quest to spread the magic of personalised keepsakes, we were also on the lookout for potential Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) who shared our passion for storytelling through photography. We engaged with aspiring content creators, discussing potential collaborations and partnerships that would further amplify the magic of personalisation.
